3 What does the new LEP mean for rural residents?

The majority of rural residents in the former Yarrowlumla Shire (now incorporated into Palerang Shire) live in areas which are zoned under the old 2002 LEP as either Rural Residential (1d) zone, or General Rural (1a) zone. These zones no longer exist under the Standard LEP and Council must decide which of the new zones allowed under the Standard LEP is most appropriate.

The Working Draft LEP proposes to rezone the Rural Residential 1(d) areas in the Burra area to E4 Environmental Living. It is proposed to re-zone the 1(a) General Agricultural areas in the Burra area to RU2 Rural Landscape or E3 Environmental Management depending on their location and land characteristics.
